RememBird was initially field tested under some extreme conditions - in the Panama rain-forest. During a one week trial at the Canopy Tower almost a thousand audio recordings were made. Birders commented on how easy it was to use. With just a few moments instruction they were successfully recording notes and birdsong.

Our birding guide, Carlos Bethancourt, was particularly impressed by the capabilities of the pre-recorded libraries. Carlos normally carries a CD-player, several CDs and their booklets. With RememBird he will be able to spend more time looking for the birds and less time hunting for the right track on the right CD. He particularly liked the auto-repeat and pause/play/volume control that RememBird gives you - without taking your hands off your binoculars.

Rain showers were no problem at all and the recorder even survived being left out (deliberately) in a tropical rain-storm. After a shake and an hour under a bedside lamp it had dried out and worked perfectly again. The inventor’s boots took considerably longer to dry out!

Several minor adjustments to the hardware and software were made as a result of the experience and feedback gained on this trip.
