Speaker voice too loud (unaffected by volume adjustment)

Postby sonofjon on Sun Apr 10, 2011 1:12 am

When I have configured RBII to play sound through an external headset, the speaker voice saying "North America, First recording, Last recording" and so on, is much too loud (hurts my ears). Lowering the volume (pulling the joystick down) has no effect on the speaker voice, it only affects the volume of played recordings.

How can I turn down the volume of the speaker voice? Thanks

Hi,
The recorder has separate volume settings for the announcements and for the birdsong recordings (as these are often recorded at different levels and/or played through different speakers). When you adjust the volume up or down, it acts on whichever is playing - announcements or recordings. Unfortunately this means that if you have short announcements you don't get very long to adjust the volume.

Press and hold the joystick in till you hear the announcement of the field-guide title - and click to select the field guide.
The next announcements, "A-E", "F-K" etc last for several seconds so provide time to get the volume level as you like it while these are playing.

Regards
